  WHAT WE AIM TO ACHIEVE
a.     To provide sensitive caring, emotional and practical support for patients and  families as outlined in the guidelines  for affiliated groups with the Cancer Council of Victoria

b.    To provide a transport and support service to assist cancer patients living on the Mornington Peninsula to attend medical appointments and treatment at hospitals in Frankston, Moorabbin, Melbourne and locally.

c.     To provide education and understanding of cancer through various channels and organisations and in meeting with others who have experienced various forms of cancer.

d.     Maintain and operate the service as a non profit organisation.

WHAT DO WE DO ?

TRANSPORT

The group has been functioning on the Southern Peninsula since 1987
and provides transport for often long periods of cancer treatment and
appointments. This is one way to assist patients and their families who have
difficulty arranging their own transport because of age, distance from relatives
or friends or find public transport unreliable and/or time consuming. Our
volunteer drivers take the stress out of daily travel.

The transport service has always relied on its 40 volunteer drivers using their own cars with patients being taken to major hospitals in the city, Frankston  and locally.

There are six driving coordinators, who share the roster duty.
We have developed information and support packages for all our drivers and patients.
                     a.    Driver Memo and Support Package

                     b.   Patient Advice, Information and Support Package

SUPPORT  MEETINGS

The group meets socially and supportively three times a year. We meet at the All Saints’ Anglican Church hall Rosebud, on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Point Nepean Road.
Our meetings are held in March and September and we have a final Christmas lunch party on the first Monday of December.  All patients and drivers are notified about the meetings during the year, which  begin at 2 pm and are mainly a social afternoon tea and get together with a guest speaker.
