News and Photos
2018
We are having another very busy year with transporting patients to their appointments in Melbourne and on the peninsula. the first 8 months saw us take over 1000 patients to their medical treatments and appointments.
However, we still have time to get together and have a bit of fun.
In April we had our usual meeting with 25 drivers and patients at the Anglican church hall. Our guest speaker was Beatrix, the local McCrae pharmacist, who gave us some real insights into owning and practising in a pharmacy. We were all particularly impressed by the huge amount of care Beatrix and her staff take with each client. There were many questions asked about medications and their side effects as well as some funny stories to tell. It was a great afternoon.

We had our second general get together in September and we invited the Jane McGrath Foundation Breast care and Prostate care nurses, Jo and Judy. They are based in Mornington and were invited by Kym, one of our patients, who has been through the breast cancer trauma for the last 12 months. These wonderful women were so positive and encouraging in their talks about dealing with cancer and its side effects. They were truly inspirational and again, we were fortunate to have such professional and encouraging people to visit and speak to the group this year.

Some pictures of the second meeting are shown here.

On December 3rd we are all celebrating Christmas at Stella' Pub in Dromana and ALL patients, their families and all drivers and spouses etc are invited to have Christmas lunch together from 12 noon onwards. There will be a raffle or two and other prizes. Santa will be there too to help us all celebrate another year.

(2016) At the patients and drivers combined meeting held in March this year we had a guest speaker from the Peninsula Community Health Care team, who spoke about the facilities and support the group can give to patients who are either undergoing cancer treatment or need to get back on their feet after treatment finishes.

Over 50 drivers gathered together for a special anniversary luncheon May. We thanked the retiring drivers with a certificate, and Sr Carmel received a special plaque in deep appreciation of her founding of the group and her leadership over these 30 years. Her work has made the life of our patients so much easier over this time.
